What is a crane rope ?

Crane wire rope, as the name suggests, is an important component used in lifting and hoisting machinery (such as Cranes, hoists, etc.), and its main function is to bear the lifting weight to achieve the lifting and handling of goods. It is not an ordinary rope, but by multiple strands of steel wire twisted into a high-strength, flexible metal rope.

Steel wire: this is the composition of the basic unit of the wire rope, made of high carbon steel or alloy steel, with high strength and toughness.

Strand: many steels wire twisted together to form a strand, increasing the strength and abrasion resistance of the rope.

Wire Rope: Multiple strands twisted around a core to form the final wire rope.

Characteristics of crane wire rope:

High strength: able to withstand huge tension, to ensure the safety of lifting heavy objects.
High flexibility: able to adapt to the bending of the reel and pulley, to ensure the smoothness of operation.
Abrasion resistance: able to resist the friction with the reel, pulley and other components, to extend the service life.
Fatigue resistance: able to withstand repeated bending and stretching, not easy to break.
Corrosion resistance: On some special occasions (such as marine operations) need to use good corrosion resistance of galvanized steel wire rope.

According to the twisting method: there are interactive twisting, same-direction twisting, etc..
According to the number of strands: 6 strands, 8 strands and so on.
According to the core of the rope: there are fiber core, steel core and so on.
